'Renewables' a magic word to sell public on Powerlink

The San Diego Union-Tribune article by Dean Calbreath: "Two weeks before Christmas 2004, a handpicked group of 12 movers and shakers met at Lou & Mickey's Seafood and Steak Restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter to talk about San Diego Gas & Electric's plans to build a new power line. For several hours, the group – which included two San Diego City Council members – talked about how the public would react to the power line, as well as discussing the “political cover” that elected officials would need to support it. Super Adobe Construction

Super Adobe is a form of earthbag construction that was developed by Iranian architect Nader Khalili. The technique uses long snake-like sand bags to form a beehive shaped compressive structure that employs arches, domes, and vaults to create single and double-curvature shell structures that are strong and aesthetically pleasing. It has received growing interest for the past two decades in the natural building and sustainability movements. Due to Super Adobe’s inexpensive nature, ease in construction, and use of locally available materials, it has also been proposed for use as a long term emergency shelter. Super Adobe is also known as superadobe and superblock.

Studio 360’s Eric Molinsky visited Cal-Earth with some friends who dream of living in giant igloos made of dirt.
